A Farewell to Husky's lost

This past weekend Adopt A Husky of Dallas had to put down our Foster, Hyde and our previous foster, Faith. It seems they both came from the same shelter in Dallas and appeared to be perfectly fine. After getting Faith home we noticed she kept hacking. I thought it might be Kennel cough. A couple already wanted to try her out with their dog and cat, so off she went to them.

Then we were brought Hyde last Tuesday and he also looked fine on first inspection. After having him not even a day he was sick as a dog! (please forgive the pun) An Adopt A Husky volunteer took him to the vet and had some blood work done. The next day as his blood work came back and nothing really stood out, we decided to take him back to the Vet. I drove him out to the Vet's office where I was meet by another Adopt A Husky Volunteer for the exam. After a thorough exam the vet came to the conclusion that Hyde has distemper and needed to be put to sleep. That was very hard after sitting with him for a while and falling in love with him. Then the even harder part came when Faith our first foster was diagnosed with the same thing and put to sleep on Saturday. It kind of left me feeling hollow and selfish. We saved both of these beautiful Husky's just to then put them down.
